It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Asics’ recently revamped Natural33 collection, with the Gel Excel33 2 being one of our top picks in running shoes this year. So you can bet we’re pretty excited for the third iteration of the Excel33, due in early 2014. All signs indicate that this shoe will continue to be a fast feeling and lightweight trainer capable of high mileage duty.

What to Watch For

FluidRide: The 3rd Excel33 utilizes a dual-layered midsole similar to that of the current Gel Lyte33 2 – which should result in a soft underfoot feel with a bouncy and responsive ride.

New Upper Design: A new engineered mesh design provides both structure and breathability in specific areas around the forefoot, while seamless overlays hold the midfoot and heel in place.

Weight Loss: We measured 8.9 oz for a Men’s size 9 and 7.1 oz for a Women’s size 8, about an ounce in weight savings for both genders compared to the previous version.
