online mens shoes:Saucony Freedom ISO Shoe Review

Over the past year, Saucony has released several shoes that feature the new EVERUN cushioning technology. From heel inserts to top sole layers, EVERUN has been added to a variety of shoes to create a smooth and responsive ride. But it wasn’t until recently that Saucony debuted the Freedom ISO, their first shoe to feature a full length EVERUN design. Paired with an ISOFIT upper, this shoe offers Saucony’s top of the line technologies in a versatile, performance package. Since the shoes release, I’ve found myself taking it out for several different runs and have been extremely pleased with its ability to handle a variety of paces and distances.

Immediately upon trying on the Freedom ISO, I noticed the unique cushioning properties of the full length EVERUN midsole. It offers a fairly soft step-in feel with a low to the ground sensation. The initial softness aside, once I began running, I found the shoe to deliver an ultra responsive ride that excels at faster paces. The EVERUN provided a nice spring to my stride and the smooth transition offered a consistent feel over longer distances. The shoe creates a nice layer of protection between my foot and the ground with sufficient enough cushioning to be used as a lighter weight daily trainer.

While the shoe seems to be a great option for uptempo days, I was very happy with its versatility in handling a range of paces. At slower efforts, the shoe did not provide the awkward ride often associated with some faster feeling shoes. The transition was still smooth and effortless even during recovery efforts. From a traction standpoint, the outsole seemed to provide plenty of grip for standard road needs, and even after 100 miles, the rubber had very minimal wear.

The Freedom ISO is all about delivering high end performance, and the upper is one facet of the shoe that does not disappoint. The engineered mesh feels ultra soft on my foot and the inner bootie sleeve creates a near seamless on-foot experience. As for the ISOFIT technology, the Freedom takes a more minimal approach compared to some of its daily training counterparts.

The thin ISOFIT wrap keeps weight at a minimum while also delivering a snug and secure midfoot fit. From a sizing standpoint, I find the shoe to run a little small. Paired with a lower fitting toe box, I chose to size up a half size and was happy with my decision.

A versatile performance shoe that boasts Saucony’s top of the line technologies, the Freedom ISO delivers a responsive ride that can take on any pace. While I’ve found the shoe enjoyable for both slower and faster efforts, I will continue to bring it out more often for days when I’m looking to move a little quicker. While the shoe is a little heavier then my typical workout shoe (9.1oz for a mens size 9), the fantastic energy return paired with soft comfort compensates for any of that extra weight. From steady state runs to tempo workouts, this shoe provides a nice spring to my stride while also offering that extra cushioning to keep my legs feeling fresh the day after.
